The end of the jam out of Sand Dollar features a pronounced Norwegian Wood tease by Kyle.

Where do I begin with this 2-night stand? The band intro to open set 1 refers to them as SCI Fidelity Recording artists, that doesn't help much. Billy's Whoopie Doopie is more appropriate-- first night: 3 and a half hours. They play something like 13 shows in 15 nights during this first half of march, plus a quick stop in at Amoeba records, and 3/7-8 is right in the middle of it.
On the Road gets going with a gradual lead in to let everyone know they're going to take their time with the jamming tonight. 100 Year Flood was actually rather standard, until the really weird segue jam into Mouna Bowa. Can't find much variation in Mouna Bowas, but damn they are thumping with energy in this one. I like this one better than 1/31/00. Work- fun, Ms. Brown's - massive.
Then comes the Sand Dollar Shine. I remember when this show first came up on the archive, I had already been liking the 2/00 Sand Dollar > Shine combos so much that when I saw one from a month later. Well, the Shine is amazing, it's got the piano keys instead of the organ keys and some great mando and an epic finish (although they always seem to have a slight miss at the very end of the song there, at least in early 2000 they do). This Shine still doesn't beat 2/3/00 by any stretch though, and only comes close to 2/10/00. I also place it behind 4/18/00, but ahead of 12/31/00 and 8/1/01. So rank it #4 out there. But this Sand Dollar could be #1, just because of that awesome intro, is it even Sand Dollar or another song? Eerie.
Set 2 has some Mardi Gras stuff, including a fitting Right Place Wrong Time. Suntan- good. Shaking the Trees is good considering the time period but they don't come back into the chorus at the end harmoniously. Get the 11/4/00 or 11/17/00 Shaking the Tree instead. Rollover > I Know You Rider is 45 minutes alone. Sure there is a segue jam but a 20 minute Rollover is still pretty massive, even for an already epic song. Quality is more important than quantity I guess, and this one has the quality to back it up all the way through. It doesn't match some of the Rollover sandwiches that would come through in Winter/Spring 2001 but still satisfying. That's actually a really cool jam between Rollover and Rider, by the way. Good Rider too, not as reggae as others in the reggae part, but no flaws.
Encore- also good.
5 stars. Check out 3/8.
